Moto Outlet Backing Team Australia at the 2018 MXoN

September 25, 2018 Filed Under: Motocross, News

For this year’s 2018 FIM Motocross of Nations (MXoN), Team Australia will have special backing from Moto Outlet. As a full-service online motorcycle gear and accessories retailer, Moto Outlet are right behind Team Australia and are backing them to succeed at Redbud, America on October 6-7, 2018.

Co-Owner of Moto Outlet, Chris Urquhart described why they got involved with Team Australia; “Both Shane Booth and myself have come from a long motocross racing background and have been involved in the sport for over 30 years. We are very passionate about the sport and not enough people step up these days and get involved to back the team. If we can have some involvement and help the Australian team rise to the top then it makes us very happy and it all worth it.

“For us to contribute to getting the team over there and help fund equipment and budget is what we want to help out with. We also have a long-term relationship with Team Manager, Michael Byrne. It’s all about helping guys go racing, which we love.

“We always have a crew together to watch the MXoN live timing, as we are huge fans! The team this year is really solid and hopefully they can get a great result.

“When you look at the likes of Mitch Evans who is super talented and years ahead of his time, he will be hard to put out of the top five. Kirk Gibbs is also looking strong and always gets results. Last year he performed magnificently. Hunter Lawrence, I would go as far to say he is one of the most talented dirt bike riders I’ve ever seen and I’ve followed his quest in the world championship for a while now. If the stars align then a podium may be possible!

Moto Outlet is a retail and online store that Co-Founders Chris Urqhart and Shane Booth have built together. They started with Moto Development, a rider training program and last December they have built the store to get it up and running. They are committed to rider development and building a one stop shop for Motocross, Adventure and Road gear and accessories.

Gillman Locked In to Host 2019 KTM AJMX

September 20, 2018 Filed Under: Important Announcements, Motocross, News

Motorcycling Australia (MA) is thrilled to announce that the 2019 KTM Australian Junior Motocross Championship (AJMX) will be hosted by the Motocross Riders Association at the Gillman Motocross Track in Gillman, South Australia (SA). With multiple State Championships under their belt over the past 10 years, the Motocross Riders Association will no doubt deliver an exceptional Championship and an event to remember. The dates have also been locked in, taking place September 28 – October 5, 2019.

Located 12 kilometres from the Adelaide CBD and a short drive to the airport, the Gillman Motocross Track is ideally situated for the AJMX and as event promoter Mark Walmsley highlighted, this event should generate a large crowd.

“I’m ecstatic to bring AJMX back to SA again,” Walmsley said. “We’re going to make it huge and make it the best one in Australia from the last five years. Although it’s getting to a warmer time of year, we can handle it. We’ve got enough water and machinery to deal with the weather.

“We ran a state title a few weeks ago and did a lot of radio advertising and got great spectator numbers. I think the numbers will be huge for a national title like AJMX. If we can get kids there, maybe we can get more people on the track, especially because the Juniors are the future of the sport.”

The AJMX is the apex of Junior Motocross racing in Australia and MA is excited to collaborate with the Motocross Riders Association to showcase our homegrown junior talent in this national title!

The MA Alliance Explained: Q&A Part 1

September 7, 2018 Filed Under: ATV, Classic Motocross, Dirt Track, Enduro, Historic Road Racing, Important Announcements, Minikhana, Motocross, News, Officials, Road Race, Road Racing, Speedway, Supercross, Supermoto, Track, Trial, Veterans

What’s in it for me? No doubt the first question you asked when the Motorcycling Australia (MA) Alliance Agreement (AA) was announced.

You, as members of MA are at the heart of the agreement. We aim to provide an economic and safe environment for participants and volunteers from all the various disciplines, whether you are a racer, a social rider, or even just an interested observer.

There are a lot of challenges and opportunities facing motorcycling in Australia – rising costs, more stringent safety requirements (higher insurance premiums), the lure of other activities (decreasing member base) and changing requirements of our riders – more ride parks, adventure riding, dirt bike rallies, ride days etc. These are real issues facing the sport which need to be faced as a cohesive team.

For quite some time all of the State Controlling Boards (SCBs) have thought long and hard about the most effective and efficient way to address these challenges and opportunities.

To retain the SCB’s autonomy (direct accountability to their members and securing their assets) while gaining the benefits of acting nationally – reduced duplication, standardising process and products, providing a national voice in support of the sport we love, the SCB’s and MA have agreed to form an Alliance where each member has an equal voice and commits to work together to achieve what’s best for motorcycling.

At this point, Motorcycling Victoria have elected not to participate in this Alliance, however we remain hopeful that they will join in the future to ensure a truly single voice in order for motorcycling to prosper in Australia.”

To stay up to date with everything involved in the new MA Alliance, head to our website, Facebook and Instagram.
