Be a Buddy, Not a Bully: Stand Up Against Bullying
Bullying is a serious issue that affects individuals of all ages, particularly in sports. It’s hurtful, damaging, and can leave lasting scars on those who experience it. Taking a stand against bullying is essential for creating a safe and inclusive environment for everyone.
Here are some steps you can take to be a buddy, not a bully, and say no to bullying:
1. Recognise Bullying Behaviour
Understanding what constitutes bullying is the first step in preventing it. Bullying can be physical, verbal, emotional, or cyberbullying. It includes actions like hitting, teasing, spreading rumours, exclusion, and making hurtful comments online.
2. Promote Kindness and Empathy
Treat others the way you want to be treated. Show kindness, empathy, and respect to everyone, regardless of their differences. Small acts of kindness can make a big difference in someone’s life.
3. Support Those Who Are Bullied
If you see someone being bullied, offer your support. Stand by them, listen to their concerns, and let them know they are not alone. Sometimes, just knowing that someone cares can be incredibly powerful.
4. Speak Up
If you witness bullying, don’t stay silent. Speak up and let the bully know their behaviour is unacceptable. Report the incident to a trusted adult, coach, or official. Silence can be perceived as approval, so it’s important to take action.
5. Encourage Inclusivity
Promote an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and accepted. Encourage group activities that include everyone and discourage cliques that exclude others.
6. Educate Yourself and Others
Learn more about the effects of bullying and share this knowledge with others. Understanding the impact of bullying can motivate people to take it seriously and work towards preventing it.
7. Be a Role Model
Set a positive example for others by demonstrating respectful and compassionate behaviour. Your actions can inspire others to follow suit and create a culture of kindness.
Remember, everyone deserves to feel safe and respected. By being a buddy and standing up against bullying, you can make a significant difference in our sport. Say no to bullying and yes to kindness, empathy, and inclusion. Together, we can create a sport where everyone feels valued and accepted.

Northern Territory First – Two Wheel Roll Racing
The Northern Territory recently witnessed a groundbreaking moment in motorsport with the introduction of two-wheeled vehicles in the Shannons Roll Racing event held on August 9, 2024.
This marked the first time that motorcycles were included in the event, thanks to the efforts of Mitch Henderson from Darwin Off Street Enthusiast, who extended the invitation to motorcyclists.
The event drew 106 participants, with 15 two-wheelers making their debut on the track, injecting a new level of excitement and diversity into the competition.
A special shoutout goes to Motive Video for their exceptional coverage of the event, capturing the thrill and intensity that only roll racing can deliver. Their footage highlighted the skill and speed of both the cars and motorcycles, providing an immersive experience for viewers who couldn’t be there in person. The video showcases the seamless integration of two-wheelers into an event traditionally dominated by four-wheel vehicles, demonstrating the versatility and inclusiveness of the racing community.
For those inspired by this event, there’s more excitement on the horizon with the upcoming Top End Powerfest 2. This presents another opportunity for motorcyclists to test their skills and experience the rush of roll racing. Whether you’re a seasoned racer or a newcomer, it’s an open invitation to be part of a growing and dynamic community that celebrates all forms of motorsport.
The success of the event can be attributed to the hard work and dedication of the DOSE Committee, volunteers, and officials. Their efforts culminated in a wonderful evening that was enjoyed by everyone present.
Don’t forget to follow Motive Video and DOSE (Darwin Off Street Enthusiasts) to stay up to date and enjoy more thrilling content!
