The Track Inspector is responsible for evaluating and reporting on the signage at a race venue. This process ensures that the track complies with safety regulations and provides clear communication for participants, officials, and spectators.
The assessment focuses on the following key areas:
- Permanently affixed and clearly displayed signs
- Signs at main entrances and parc ferme areas
- Spectator area signage and protection
By reviewing these signage requirements, the Track Inspector ensures that all safety protocols are followed, that participants and spectators can easily navigate the venue and that the venue is inclusive and accessible for all.

Rider information signs
A permanent venue plan and track map are essential safety features for any motorcycling venue. These maps should be clearly displayed in the Paddock area, providing crucial information for participants, officials, and emergency responders.
The Track Inspector will assess the following key elements:
Permanent display in the paddock area – must be permanently affixed in the Paddock area, ensuring that they are always accessible to those who need them. The Paddock is typically a central area where riders, teams, and officials gather before and after events, making it the ideal location for these important maps. They should be placed in a visible, easily accessible location so that all attendees, particularly those involved in the event, can quickly refer to them if necessary.
Track layout, flag and access points – the track map must clearly show the track layout, including key elements such as:
-
-
Flag Points: The locations of flag points where marshals are stationed to communicate safety and race information to riders and officials. These areas are critical for safety, as they indicate where the track may be under caution, where a yellow flag might signal slow conditions, or other safety-related conditions.
-
Track Access and Exit Points: The map must indicate entry and exit points for riders, officials, and vehicles. These access points are crucial for the movement of riders, emergency vehicles, and officials around the venue. Clear marking of these areas helps ensure smooth and safe transitions between different parts of the venue.
