Opening Round of the 2025 Holeshot Yamaha Thumpers Breaks Records for Darwin Motorcycle Club
Darwin, NT – March 2, 2025 – The opening round of the 2025 Holeshot Yamaha Thumpers series has set a new milestone for the Darwin Motorcycle Club (DMCC). With a staggering 149 riders registered, the event saw over 200 bikes racing across multiple classes, showcasing the growing popularity of motorcycling in the Northern Territory.
This milestone event not only showcased exceptional talent but also demonstrated the ongoing expansion of the sport. In a bid to further enhance inclusivity and provide more opportunities for young female riders, Motorcycling NT (MNT) introduced a combined Junior Girls class for season 2025 which DMCC included in their schedule. This welcomed addition was warmly received, highlighting the commitment of the club to support and nurture the next generation of female motorcyclists.
In addition to the exciting introduction of the Junior Girls class, the 50cc category saw extraordinary growth. Both the competitive and non-competitive 50cc classes experienced a surge in participation, with even six-year-olds now emerging as competitive racers, demonstrating a bright future for the sport. These young riders are proof of the thriving talent pool in the region and the strong foundation DMCC has built for future generations of motorcycling enthusiasts.
Despite the challenging extreme heat, the event was enjoyed by all. Riders, families, and spectators alike were undeterred, with a large crowd turning out to cheer on the competitors. The atmosphere at the track was nothing short of electric, with families, friends, and fans creating an exciting and supportive environment for the riders.
MNT would like to extend its heartfelt congratulations to DMCC for its record-breaking turnout and success in the opening round of the 2025 series. The effort and dedication of the club members have been instrumental in making this event such a resounding success.
A special thank you goes out to all the volunteers, officials, and St. John Ambulance NT personnel who devoted their Sunday to ensuring the event ran smoothly and safely. Their dedication, expertise, and commitment to the well-being of the participants and spectators are deeply appreciated.
Thank you to all the sponsors whose generous support made this event possible. Their commitment to the sport and the community is invaluable, and their contributions play a key role in ensuring the continued growth and success of motorcycling in the Northern Territory.
We would also like to acknowledge the photographers (Denise and Peter Troon) whose stunning images captured the energy and excitement of the event.
As the Holeshot Yamaha Thumpers series progresses, MNT looks forward to more thrilling rounds hosted by DMCC that will continue to inspire new talent and grow the sport in the Northern Territory.
